Do My Math Test |

I have been in school for over twelve years and while I surpass the average scores on Language Arts, and the Sciences, my math test scores stink! Perhaps I should have talked my friends into taking my math tests for me. I wonder if it would have made any difference. Probably not, because I still would not have understood what I needed to learn. If you are having difficulty understanding a concept, a math test can be grueling. I had no difficulty with Algebra, bur when it came to geometry and trigonometry I cringed when I had to face a math test. No matter how hard I tried, it seemed pointless because I rarely achieved the grade I wanted.
During my last year of college I decided to receive tutoring from my math professor. The reason for this is so I could spend more time on my 10 page essay. I wanted to earn a B on my next math test as well. He was nice enough to give up 2 afternoons per week to sit with me and explain the same concepts over and over, until they sunk in my brain. It was not easy for either one of us, but eventually I began to grasp the concepts he was trying to teach me. The next time a math test rolled around I think I earned that long waited B. I must say that I felt really good and I worked very hard to earn it! There are some students who choose the easy way out and decide to cheat on a math test. There are creative ways to earn a better score; I chose not to go that route. Perhaps it is because I like a good challenge. So I took on the challenge of challenging myself and it actually worked! For me to receive a B on a math test was like trying to ride a horse surrounded by snakes-not impossible but nearly!
Sometimes our nerves alone can set us up for failing a math test. If I remained calm it was easier for me to remember facts and formulas that I needed to remember for the test. If I was nervous, then my mind would freeze up and I might not remember certain formulas I needed for the test. I soon realized that a calm mind meant that I would do better when taking a math test. For the most part, I was right. I began taking yoga classes. This helped me to stay calm before each math test. Did I become an A student? Nope! But I performed better on the tests and I managed to bring my math scores up.
